826 National has a unique business model—they pair nonprofit tutoring centers for kids with fantastic retail spaces designed to raise awareness and inspire creativity. So when 826 was ready to open an LA location, we were thrilled to help! We co-founded the Echo Park Time Travel Mart, a convenience store for time travelers. Over the course of 18 months, we built out the physical location, formulated the store’s look and brand, and created over 100 bespoke products. Since opening in 2007, the store has raised million of dollars, been featured across media, and was even included in the 2010 California Design Biennial.
